Each time you apply for, renew, or replace your driver’s licence, you must confirm that you are medically fit to drive. For some people, this may simply involve signing a declaration on their licence application. However, depending on your health history or existing conditions, you may need to provide a medical or eyesight certificate.
When booking, please inform reception that you require a Driving Medical Test Papamoa and bring your current driver’s licence to your appointment. Your GP/NP will complete a Waka Kotahi medical certificate, which you must use to apply for your licence within 60 days of it being signed.

Once you turn 75, a medical certificate is required each time you apply for your driver’s licence. Drivers must renew their licence at ages 75, 80, and every two years thereafter. If recommended by your GP/NP, you may also need to complete a 30-minute on-road safety test.
